Last Saturday, March 8, we decided to buy some preserved cherries, Sprite and a bottle of Vodka. This was decided after much persuasion from Byang. No, actually it was like a mutual understanding from all of the people there, namely Byang, Dids, Jhiey, Robert and yours truly. For mutual understanding I mean, no one disagreed on Byang’s suggestion on having a drinking session (again!). So on top of our groceries, we bought the needed ingredients for our booze session.
I wasn’t feeling very well that night, even before dinner my astigmatism was acting up. By the time we arrived home, I was already feeling a little bit feverish. I took a very short nap, and by the time I woke up, my energy was restored a bit and the gang was all seated, ready to start our small gathering. It all started with light drinking (light because we only have one bottle of liquor and there were about 7 of us), then Phil had an idea of playing cards. We started with the game of Chikicha (don’t know how to spell it, but it sounds like that). Then when Cyril came, he taught us the art of Piyat-piyat (again I don’t know the spelling). By this time, the bottle of vodka was almost empty. It was 1:30am when Cyril and Jhiey bid their farewell, they still have to practice billiards for a tournament in their company. I assure you that they are not drunk or anything, they told us that they have to practice because they are aiming for the cash prize (Libre dayun kung makadaog mo!).
It was just Byang, Dids, Robert, Phil and I who were left with an empty bottle of vodka and a deck of cards. We aren’t very adept with those hardcore card games I mentioned earlier. So as not to stress our slightly alcohol tampered state of mind, we opted for a simpler game of 1-2-3-pass. We started out with the usual rules of the game. The punishment for the last one to put his/her hand on the table was for the rest of the players to put powder on his/her face. So we started getting all hyped up. Fast forwarding to several games after…all of them had powder on their faces except for me. It came to a point that all of them were targeting me to lose. Byang was accusing me of passing her the cards lousily (she was seated on my right). Then they went on accusing me again that I somewhat cheated in how I placed my hand on the pile. Geez…talk about sore losers!
Peace guys! They thought maybe it was because the one who passed me the cards was the one (Phil, who was seated on my left) to blame. They thought maybe he passed it to me too accurately than how the others did. So they devised a way to make the game more interesting, by this they mean device it in a way that I’ll lose. They said we need to randomly switch places, then Phil wouldn’t be the one passing me the cards. Guess what…it still didn’t work. So when the accusing stage passed, next thing they thought of was to instead pass the cards to our left. That didn’t work either. Eventually, I did lose because of my own attention lapse. They were rejoicing to the fact that they were at long last putting powder on my face. Yehey for them!
Not long after that, we decided that it was time to sleep. They were just waiting for me to lose. Tsk tsk tsk…
I proved one thing…that at those unholy hours, people really could think of peculiar things. hehehe
